Conspicuousness as a Useful Cover by Mike Irwin, Period 6, College Prep. Circa Terra 1979. Teeny edits recently.

A very useful technique when scouting backwards planets is to be conspicuous enough that nobody notices you. Beginning scouts have trouble with this technique, but the survival types invariably master it sooner or later.

As one grows adept at being conspicuous, it is often possible to use pieces of work for two or three purposes, thus cutting the workload greatly. This paper is an example of such a deception. It will be used in an advanced textbook at the scout academy on Sirius-3 and turned in as an assignmentto fullfill requirements which have been placed upon my alter ego.

The natives allowed to read this essay will no doubt laugh it off as an attempt at humor; this is good because it will help train their subconscience to scoff at premature saucer reports. I do not feel that I need to explain that statement much after the diasastrous results of the Procyon invasion. It is obvious to all intelligent galalactic citizens that extreme care must be used while preparing an industrial culture for a coup'dtau.
